Project Report | Jun 24, 2022
Celebrate Community and #BuildBridges

By Abby Robinson | Chief Strategy Officer | Alumna Class 2 (USA)

Greetings!

How are you? 2022 has so far been an exciting year of new opportunities and growth, and you have been pivotal in every moment. Because of YOU, our Community continues to grow to 1,400+ social change leaders from 115 countries.

We invite you to join us on July 20 at 12pm ET for Bonus Day and Celebration of Service on YouTube. Through our #BuildBridges campaign, this virtual celebration will feature our Fellows, Scholars, Alumni, and Host Organizations who are changing the world through collaboration. Gifts of $100+ will be matched! We also welcome you to share with your network: Invite your friends on Facebook here and/or share across your social media using our toolkit. Learn more about the event at donate.atlascorps.org.

In preparation for this day of celebrations, I’d like to take the time to recognize your part in making this all possible. Here is just a snapshot of the immense gratitude we have for your support in our efforts towards empowering women globally.

Thank you for creating opportunities for our global leaders to learn and grow!

  • Fellow Michelle (Class 44, Mexico) had the opportunity to represent Atlas Corps at the VI Young Americas Forum in Los Angeles, California. As a panelist, Michelle presented Atlas Corps as an effective global service model: “Global service models such as Atlas Corps help break down barriers among countries, cultures, and people by immersing global young leaders into local communities in the U.S. and creating an intercultural exchange between local residents and international fellows.” Read about her experience here.
  • Alumna Swarnima (Class 27, Nepal) is the Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist at Swisscontact Nepal, where she has led the communication strategies for projects that provide employment opportunities for women and youths in marginalized groups. Swarnima is grateful for the opportunities your support has given her: “I believe the year of the Fellowship has been one of the most remarkable years of my life. It provided me an opportunity to participate in programs and events and meet people who changed my perspective on a lot of things. It helped me grow personally, too. I feel like I have emerged as a more confident person.” Read more about her inspiring work here.

Thank you for helping us #BuildBridges between our global leaders and our Host Organizations–such as Girl Up, who is currently hosting two Fellows!

  • Fellow Asma (Class 42, Tunisia) is the MENA Regional Fellow. Asma is in charge of developing new strategies for program engagement and building Girl Up’s grassroot networks in the region.
  • Fellow Patrícia (Class 42, Brazil) is the Global Operations Fellow. Patrícia is in charge of overseeing global operations and supporting the two new pilot affiliates in Mexico and Brazil.
  • Julie Willig is the Senior Director of Global Operations and their supervisor. She is grateful for both Asma’s and Patrícia’s impact on her team: “Both Fellows have pushed me to think about our work, our infrastructure, and our core issues in a new way. They have shared their values with me and have offered a fresh and important perspective.” Learn more about Girl Up’s Host Organization experience here.

Your support has made a tremendous difference in the Atlas Corps Community. I am excited for us to celebrate more on July 20! Together, WE are Atlas Corps!

Until next time-

Abby
