Dear friends, (en español abajo)
We apologize for the long silence, while our dream to build a center to care for sexually abused children is still alive, we have encountered some difficulties along the way that put the project on hold.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes in government, the land that had been allocated by the local government to COIN to build the center was no longer available, and for some time we didn't know how or when we would be able to proceed. Finally, a new land was found and we are in the process of formalizing the agreement so that this doesn't happen again.
In the meanwhile, we haven't stopped working with the children and youth from the community, we have continued to meet weekly to educate them on healthy relationships and the prevention of Gender-based violence and STIs including HIV. A new cohort of youth peer educators has been trained and is now in the communities sharing what they learned with other youth. We are also developing a TV series to sensitize against gender-based violence and advocate for the inclusion of youth with disabilities and youth with HIV. This series will be launched in the first half of 2024.
As we continue to work with youth, we will appreciate your support in continuing to spread the word and raise funds for the center, we know it is a big investment and it will take us time to raise all the funds we need, but we know that if we keep working towards it, this dream will become a reality.
Thank you for being part of this dream,
Queridos amigos,
