Brazil has just reached the mark of 60% of the population completely imune to coronavirus, despite the huge amount of people missing the second shot of the vaccine. Also, the third dose has recently become available for the general adult population. As expected, the number of deaths and new cases is decreasing, although the situation is not completely under control. Specially when some countries in Europe are about to face a 4th wave of Covid, keeping all the world on alert.
As we move towards to two years in the pandemic, some social issues are getting worse and the humanity seems to begin to understand the scale of the crisis. It is estimated that a tenth of the world population faced hunger during 2020, according to the United Nations. In Brazil, before Covid, there were more than 10 milion families living under severe food insecurity and during last year this number has grown by almost 9 milion people. In general, around 28% of the brazilian population may face hunger because they don’t have money.
These are the people that our founder, Santa Dulce dos Pobres, helped and took care of during her whole life, thriving to achieve her mission to love and serve the others. And with this light, we keep working and gathering efforts with partners like you, looking for ways to give them some dignity.
Since the beginning of this year, we were able to help at least 28.000 people living under social vulnerability, by giving them food, water, juice, snacks and hygiene kits. Altogether, almost 22.000 ready meals were distributed. Unfortunately, it still is not enough to cover the increasing number of people living in the streets and under food insecurity.
"What can we do to change the world? Love. Love can overcome selfishness". We will keep working for them in the same way Santa Dulce did.
Thank you for your kind support!
