Racejay is a three-year old child born with an illness called Imperforate Anus, a congenital malformation where a normal anal opening is absent at birth. His family is from a far-flung barangay in Guiuan, a second class municipality in the province of Eastern Samar. His father works as a construction worker earning around $ 90.00 a month which is, most of the times, not enough to sustain the daily needs of his family of 5.
After birth, Racejay underwent Colostomy wherein a stoma or opening in the muscle of abdominal wall is created, attached to the large intestine acting as the temporary passage of stool and drained in a colostomy bag. Since the family can not afford buying colostomy bags, they would use plastic wrappers instead. Last June 2022, the child underwent laboratory procedures in preparation for the second operation. However, the family does not have enough funds to proceed with the surgery.
Racejay's family continues to hope that he will have the funds for the completion of his surgery so he could finally live a normal and healthy life like every child should.
