From the World Stage to Community Impact in Oaxaca

During this period, the project Sport with Purpose: Youth Wellbeing in Mexico continued advancing its mission to create safe and supportive spaces through sports and play for children and youth living in vulnerable contexts.

Throughout the year, we worked with children and young people in four communities in Oaxaca, including Juchitán de Zaragoza, Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, and San Mateo del Mar. In these communities, we delivered sports and recreational sessions that strengthen teamwork, peaceful coexistence, and emotional wellbeing. Through play, we promote key life skills such as resilience, leadership, and self-confidence, while also helping to reinforce community bonds.

So far, we have received only a $10 USD donation, which will help provide safe sports equipment so more children can participate. Although the support received is still limited, we remain committed to keeping the project active and expanding its reach. With additional funding, we will be able to strengthen the training of community coaches, improve access to sports materials, and reach more participants.

Thanks to your generosity, our project continues to create safe and inspiring spaces for children and youth in Mexico. Recently, we received $34 USD in donations—a contribution that helps us move forward and expand our impact.

By June 2025, with the support of recurring corporate donors and individual contributions like yours, we have reached 1,617 children and youth through our programs. In the last year, we have worked in more than 12 states across Mexico, bringing the power of sport and play to vulnerable communities. Through our “Active Neighborhoods” programs in Mexico City, Guanajuato, Monterrey, Oaxaca, Sonora, Morelos, and beyond, we are not only strengthening community ties but also focusing on the formation of young leaders who guide activities that foster resilience, teamwork, and hope.

Your support makes it possible for us to continue scaling our programs, training more coaches, and building inclusive spaces where youth can grow with confidence. Together, we are creating a movement that shows how football can transform not only individual lives, but also entire communities.
