Virtual Learning, Roots Cafe Partnership, and More

By Felix M Reyes | Development Associate

On behalf of everyone here at Arts For All, we hope you are doing well during these unprecedented times we are facing.
.
As our organization is committed to finding new ways to provide our essential arts programs for in-need children, we are continuing to offer opportunities to families during this coronavirus crisis, be it virtually, or by finding ways to bring arts activities directly into their homes. As a result we have been working with our Teaching Artists in creating new virtual content for our media and for our youth partners, while also developing new partnerships in order to serve more in-need children.
.
In keeping you informed of Arts For All's current activities, we would like to share with you some of our most recent projects, accomplishments, and information about upcoming events that are on the horizon for the summer:
.
.
1) Virtual Learning during COVID-19
In order to continue serving our children and partnering organizations, one of the many initiatives we have decided to take upon ourselves during this time of COVID is creating an extensive library of video content to help transition all of our programs into an online learning format.
.
Here is a sample work of one of our senior Teaching Artists, Ciara Ruddock, demonstrating stop motion animation exercises in this instructional video she created as part of this initiative!
If interested you can find more virtual content up on our YouTube channel at:
.
2) Partnership with Roots Cafe
Our newest initiative, in partnership with local South Slope coffee shop Roots Cafe, who has recently converted their business into a food pantry,
(https://www.rootsbrooklyn.com/), is in producing Arts For All activity books that will be delivered out to local families within the Brooklyn community through Roots Cafe. These packages will include arts supplies, such as crayons, and will serve approximately 480 children from K-3 all over Brooklyn, who are in need of learning activities and the arts during this time of self-quarantine.
.
3) Outreach during COVID-19
In these uncertain times Arts For All has been able to adjust and work on creating new outreach opportunities going forward, such as working with Newspark, a Harvard student organization that is promoting nonprofits' work during these difficult times, and most recently developing new partnerships with local schools in NYC to be able to deliver free outreach services such as delivering books to children directly into their homes.
.
.
During these difficult times it's easy to get lost in all of the negative news that has been currently getting thrown at us and lose sight of all the good in the world, but in taking a moment to reflect I personally want to thank you for continuing to support our organization during such difficult times. Now more than ever we need the arts to reach our children, and so in working on these various initiatives we've shared in this newsletter we are making it our goal and priority to serve as many students as we possibly can during this period of time.
.
It is because of individuals like yourself, our dedicated staff, teaching artists, donors, and partnering organizations, that we are able to achieve the work we're able to do.
.
We are wishing you and your loved ones the best health and spirits and hope that you will continue to support our organization, so that we can create a better world in which we can continue to provide sustainable, quality arts programs to under-served children for years to come.
.
Sincerely,
Anna Roberts Ostroff
Executive Director
