We are delighted to present our awareness project in collaboration with Zenerasion Nou Kapav, an NGO which intervenes in Sainte Catherine; some few kilometres where our office is based. The awareness activities of TIPA aim to raise awareness among parents, teachers and the public on Children’s rights so as to better protect the children and make sure that each child feels secure in his environment.
The project we named "Zeness, twa Sitwayen demin (Youngsters, the future generations)" has two essential goals:
For this project, TIPA wishes to highlight two articles: Article 13 and Article 31.2 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Article 13 guarantees the child have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of the child's choice. Article 31.2 emphasizes the child's right to participate fully in cultural and artistic life and shall encourage the provision of appropriate and equal opportunities for cultural, artistic, recreational and leisure activity.
To raise awareness about freedom of expression, TIPA uses art as an interactive means. Through "Zeness twa Sitwayen demin", we aim to encourage educators to adopt an empowering and participatory approach, allowing children to express themselves on the issues that concern them. For example, by giving children time to choose the artistic materials they want to use or the topics they want to address. We aim to create an environment where children feel engaged and responsible for their learning, thereby enhancing their self-esteem and commitment to their rights and responsibilities.
Through artistic workshops with Moksharupa, an amazing artist, parents, children, and educators, we seek to disseminate knowledge about Children's Rights, with a special emphasis on freedom of expression. By promoting collective engagement in protecting these rights, our goal is to create a better and more inclusive future where every child can thrive and make their voice heard, becoming active citizens.
