Curation and design

For the first time in Armenia, what was once considered waste becomes traceable value.
We are introducing the first regenerative, waste-wool blockchain solution — powered by a first-of-its-kind Digital Product Passport (DPP). Each Arm.wool carpet now carries its own unique story
With a simple QR code, you can discover:
– the origin of the wool
– the people behind it
– the journey from discarded raw material to a high-value piece
This is more than innovation. It’s regeneration in action — transforming waste into value, ensuring transparency, and honoring every hand in the process. Because the real value is not only in the product, but in the people and the story behind it.

Concept & Design
Designers Eloi Chafaï and Jean-François Dingjian, working with the AHA collective, set out to create a red-carpet piece highlighting Armenian textile heritage and complete supply-chain transparency. They produced sketches, a color palette, and detailed technical drawings.

Material Sourcing & Traceability
Locally raised Armenian wool and cotton were chosen to minimize transport emissions and support regional shepherding communities. All wool was sourced from a farm in Darik Village, Sharak region. Each bale received a supplier batch ID, logged for blockchain recording.

Fiber Preparation
Raw wool was washed to remove lanolin and debris, in the village of Armasia, then sorted, carded, and aligned into uniform slivers. Waste fibers were set aside for reuse.

Spinning
Yarn was hand-spun to the required thickness for both warp and weft. Every lot carried its own batch ID and underwent tensile checks.

Natural Dyeing

Mordanting: Alum baths prepared yarn for colorfastness.
Dyestuffs: Cochineal, madder root, logwood (reds); everlasting, indigo, pomegranate peel, yarrow (greens).
Process: Carefully timed immersions and modifiers produced the desired nuanced palette. Effluent was treated and dyestuff remains composted.

Weaving
Master weaver Emma Hakobyan executed the design using a hand weft-faced technique for a dense, luxurious surface. Detailed logs captured hours worked and knots per area.

Documentation & Blockchain Recording
All batch IDs, progress photographs, and quality-control records were compiled and uploaded to Lingon, a Swedish company providing solutions for Digital Product Passports and product authenticity, for permanent blockchain certification (using the Chromia Blockchain).
