The Final Report
Armenian Heritage Digital Preservation
The Armenian Heritage Digital Preservation project is dedicated to safeguarding Armenia’s rich cultural, historical, and artistic legacy. Through state-of-the-art digitization of architectural sites, our goal is to create an accessible and sustainable digital archive that benefits researchers, educators, and communities worldwide.
Achievements and Impact
We have already digitized several sites, which are available on our website,ArmenianTreasures.com. Using cutting-edge technologies such as LiDAR laser scanning and drone-based photogrammetry, we produce highly accurate digital replicas of historical monuments. These digital copies are then integrated into virtual reality, making them accessible to a wide audience.
Students studying Armenian history and culture use these visual representations to deepen their understanding of the nation’s heritage. Scientists and restoration experts rely on the data to analyze, preserve, and restore these monuments with precision. Furthermore, tourists and enthusiasts who wish to explore Armenia and its historical treasures can virtually immerse themselves in these sites, gaining a deeper appreciation of the first country in the world to adopt Christianity in AD 301.
Campaign Progress
Our team has successfully digitized the following landmarks:
The scanning and digitization process is ongoing, and we are committed to expanding this digital archive to include more of Armenia’s iconic and lesser-known historical sites.
The Importance of This Project
This project is a cornerstone for preserving Armenian heritage. It ensures that the nation’s cultural and historical treasures are not lost to time, destruction, or neglect. By creating a digital archive, we not only protect these landmarks for future generations but also make them accessible to a global audience. This effort bridges the gap between the past and the future, fostering a sense of shared history and identity while providing resources for education, research, and cultural appreciation.
Preserving Armenia’s heritage digitally is not just about safeguarding monuments — it is about preserving the soul of a nation and sharing its story with the world.
