Since the beginning of the Armath engineering makerspaces educational program in 2011, the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) has been dedicated to the growth of the Armath. This initiative aims to expand engineering labs, improve technical education resources, and create a global student network. Additionally, UATE has persistently worked to share the Armenian model of technology education with the world (currently there are Armath makerspaces in USA, France, Kuwait, India, Eswatini, Bangladesh, Georgia).
Progress Based on Project Goals:
-
Student Participation: In 2023, more than 17,300 students actively engaged in Armath engineering labs across Armenia, the USA, France, India, and other countries.
-
Lab Integration: Incorporating labs into schools has helped shape realistic career expectations and provided students with a deeper understanding of their chosen professions.
-
Skill Acquisition: Students have excelled in programming languages and engineering modeling, participating actively in competitions such as ArmRobotics and DigiCode and from May 2024 also in Koreez-Armath competition.
-
Teamwork and Collaboration: Teamwork and collaboration have been fundamental to student participation in various phases of the project.
-
Expansion of Labs: Armath initiated a lab expansion project through a fundraising campaign. Currently, eight campaigns are live, with local community teams raising over 52% of the total fundraising target, 4 fundraising campaigns reached their goals and Armath makerspaces has been established there.
- Collaboration perspectives grow fast: Coaches of Armath makerspaces participate in diverse workshops to expand their network and professional skillset by connecting with techcommunity.
This report underscores the continued success and impact of the Armath program, highlighting its role in empowering students and fostering a skilled workforce in technology and engineering.

We are pleased to present the Armath Program Report for the year 2022-2023.
Since 2011, the UATE has been dedicated to its mission of establishing the Armath Engineering Laboratories educational program. This initiative aims to expand engineering laboratories, enhance technical education resources, and create a global network of students. Additionally, UATE has initiated the process of exporting the Armenian model of technology education to a worldwide audience.
Assessment Based on Project Objectives:
- In 2022, more than 17,500 students engaged in engineering laboratories across Armenia, Artsakh, Javakhk, and other countries.
- The integration of labs into schools, as opposed to standalone structures, has fostered more realistic expectations and a deeper understanding among students when choosing their professions.
- Remarkably, over 46% of the 2022 graduates have ventured into entrepreneurship, with nearly 9% immediately entering the IT sector.
- Students have acquired proficiency in programming languages and engineering modeling, enabling them to actively participate in various competitions.
- The "Armath" Academy, an accelerator program supporting startups at various development stages, has been a notable success.
- Collaboration and teamwork have been at the forefront of student involvement in nearly all phases of the project.
- There are plans to initiate and expand into various innovative domains, including radio electronics, print design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, augmented and virtual reality, and agrotechnology.
- A significant achievement has been the active participation of female students, accounting for 40% of participants.
- From an economic perspective, the Net Present Value (NPV) of the project stands at an estimated 445 billion AMD, with an impressive Internal Rate of Return (IRR) at 574%.
