Dear donors
For the third year in a row, the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) Law School team advanced to the top 16 in the prestigious Willem C. Vis Moot, the world's leading competition in international commercial arbitration and sale of goods.
This year's team featured students Lucero Díaz Acosta, Joaquín Emens, Santiago Rodriguez, and Santiago Martín, selected through a rigorous process from August to September 2023.
The competition has two stages: a written phase, where teams submit claimant and respondent memoranda, and an oral phase in Vienna, Austria. The oral rounds this year ran from March 22nd to March 28th. Since October last year, the team worked intensively on their written submissions, practicing with various law firms, collaborating virtually with international universities, and participating in pre-moots.
Their hard work paid off. After four hearings in the general oral rounds, the team advanced to the elimination rounds, a distinction awarded to only the top 64 teams. Santiago Rodriguez also received an honorable mention for his outstanding performance as a speaker, placing among the top 40 out of 700 participants.
UBA Law School's consistent success—reaching the elimination rounds in 10 of the last 11 years, winning first place in 2016, and earning multiple awards for written memorials— highlights the exceptional quality of our program.
Until now, UBA fully funded participation in these competitions. However, due to the current economic situation, this year's funding has been more limited.
Your generous support made this achievement possible.
Thank you for helping our students continue to excel on the world stage.
