1. General Comments.
Many thanks to donors for the funds already accumulated, which are received from GlobalGiving monthly and transferred to Aquabox in full within two working days.
This includes non-targeted donations which are thankfully allocated to this project by GlobalGiving. The crisis in Yemen continues and your donations have been and continue to be much needed. Apart from one part time administrator Aquabox is staffed entirely by volunteers.
This project raises funds specifically for the benefit of the needy in Yemen. There are other and newer disasters around the globe, sometimes appearing to suppress news of an ongoing crisis such as the Yemen conflict. Unfortunately, there is still a great need for the support of those caught up in this dreadful conflict.
2. NINTH Aquabox consignment ready for shipment to Yemen.
250 Gold Boxes have been built and set aside to be sent to partner JOY later this month June 2023 so that they can add medical equipment to the container before shipment to Yemen. These are the humanitarian aid packs which are designed to meet all of the basic needs for shelter building, cooking, education needs as family rebuild their lives. Each Gold Box also includes a family filter that will provide water for 6-10 people.
Cost to Aquabox of eighth shipment to Yemen (excluding delivery).
250 gold boxes @ £150 per box = £ 37,500, with each box including a Family Filter.
This is the value as quoted at the start of this GlobalGiving project, but in fact costs have increased over the last 4+ years.

2020 - 500 Gold Boxes
2020 - 5 Community Filters
2020 - 120 Family Filters
2019 - 270 Gold Boxes
2018 - 60 Gold Boxes (trial shipment)
Each of the 2030 Gold Boxes contains a Family Filter.
The total of 2150 Family Filters and 5 Community Filters delivered or ready for Yemen can produce over 1000 million litres of clean drinking water over the working lives of the filters.
The total cost to Aquabox of Yemen aid completed to date exceeds £300,000 .
4. Other Aquabox shipments since February 2023.
4.1 Malawi - 168 water filters were sent in April, with delivery facilitated by Seed Sowers Trust, who are the trusted partner of Aquabox in Malawi, and with whom Aquabox have worked successfully in the past. Cyclone Freddie recently caused devastation in Malawi, disrupting the water supply and resulting in an extensive outbreak of water borne diseases. Malawi was already suffering from its worst outbreak of cholera when the cyclone hit.
4.2 Ukraine - The 10th shipment of water filters has been sent to Ukraine.
4.3 Syria - Another shipment for Syria has left the depot. Assisted by partners Hand in Hand the route is via Mersin in East Turkey, then overland to northern Syria.
