Challenge

Youth in Yei River County face persistent unemployment and economic exclusion, particularly refugee, returnee, internally displaced and vulnerable host-community youth aged 18-35. Young women and persons with disabilities face additional barriers to skills, finance and employment. APPLY+ will address these gaps for 140 vulnerable youth, including 98 young women (70%) and 14 persons with disabilities (10%), helping them access skills, enterprise opportunities and dignified work.

Solution

APPLY+ will equip 140 vulnerable youth, including 98 young women (70%) and 14 youth with disabilities (10%), with employability, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and workplace skills. Youth will receive mentorship, career guidance, apprenticeships, employer linkages and enterprise support. Four employment pathways-cooperative enterprise, self-employment, wage employment and apprenticeships-will help at least 90 youth transition into work, while 120 complete the readiness pathway.

Long-Term Impact

APPLY+ will help 140 vulnerable youth, including 98 young women and 14 persons with disabilities, build sustainable pathways to employment and enterprise. At least 90 youth will transition into work or self-employment, while 120 complete the readiness pathway. Stronger youth enterprises, VSLAs, employer partnerships and market linkages will improve income and financial resilience, helping young people remain economically active and reducing long-term dependence on humanitarian assistance.
