Floods in Punjab, Pakistan, have created havoc; over 1,769 villages inundated, approximately 1.4 million affected, 805 confirmed deaths, 7800 homes have been destroyed, and 200,000 people have been evacuated, and large-scale Destruction of standing crops and livestock. The purpose is to deliver life-saving emergency relief to flood-affected households, ensuring immediate access to food, non-food items, and medical support, while strengthening community coping capacities.
Punjab is experiencing one of its largest rescue operations in recent history due to unprecedented monsoon rains and the subsequent flooding of the Ravi and Chenab rivers. District Narowal, Jhang and Chiniot has been severely impacted, with significant breaches along the Ravi riverbanks leading to widespread inundation of agricultural land and residential areas.
PMS will deliver a package of life-saving relief to 200 highly vulnerable households. Each family will receive a one-month food pack designed to cover the nutritional needs of seven members. The support will also be given for books and bags, support, children's happiness packs, and support for the elderly severely affected and impacted by Floods.
The long-term impact of relief support is multifaceted and extends beyond the immediate stabilization of affected communities to include sustained health benefits, economic recovery, resilience building, and improved disaster preparedness.
