In the highland communities of the Callejón de Huaylas, an education system that too often can't reach them. Rural schools in Peru's Andean regions face teachers stretched across grade level and children who arrive to class hungry, tired, or without the basic support that makes learning possible.

At Misión Huascarán, we work to close that gap directly in the classroom and beyond it. Our team supports schools with tutoring, learning materials, and teacher training, while also addressing the conditions that keep kids from learning in the first place,  nutrition, health, and family engagement. It's an approach built on the belief that a child can't focus on fractions if they're hungry, and can't stay in school if no one at home understands why it matters.

The change we see isn't abstract. It's the student who was falling behind and is now reading at grade level. It's the classroom where attendance is steadier and participation is higher. It's parents who, for the first time, are actively involved in their children's education because someone took the time to show them how.

None of this happens without the donors who believe rural children deserve the same shot at a future as anyone else. Thank you for making that belief real, one classroom, one child, at a time.
