To our donors,
The “Mision Huascaran” team wishes you and your loved ones find themselves in good health. These times are still challenging in Peru, but we face them with optimism and a lot of positive energy. We continue to advance with our educational project “Sponsor a child's education for USD 10 per month”. We would like to share our progress and say thank you for all the support.
Actions accomplished
- We continue with our complementary educational program in reading comprehension, literacy, and critical thinking at 8 rural schools in Ancash Peru.
- In October we started a new interactive reading platform, Raz Kids. This platform offers up to 400 level books to the kids and allows us to evaluate the reading progress of each one of the end-users.
- From October to December our children read over 6000 books on the Raz Kids platform.
- The average reading program attendance rate of our students was 77% in 2022.
- In the literacy program 38% of the students managed to meet the set course objectives.
- In the comprehensive reading program 15% of the students managed to improve on their initial reading level. NOTE: Its important to mention that after two years of pandemic restrictions almost all students represent severe setbacks in their reading abilities development.
- In just two months (October – December 2022) of starting with the new reading platform and in-house developed reading training, overall 23% of the 270 students in total were able to improve their reading levels. We consider this a good result, considering the short amount of time and look forward on provinding you with further uplifting news in 2023.
- In the last months of 2022, in two of the eight rural schools Misión Huascarán organized a reading reinforcement program for the high school students, +50% of the participants managed accomplish the set objectives.
- At the annual Christmas celebration all the students in the program received their Christmas gift (a themed polo shirt).
- At the end of 20222, 165 Ttblets were available for the children at 8 schools’ libraries.
We hope to continue counting on your support so that the children of Mancos and Carhuaz continue to receive complementary quality education. We would like to thank you before-hand for all the support we received from you through GlobalGiving platform.
Wishing you all the best.
