Project Report | May 18, 2026
Paws on Duty

By Leah Crabtree | Project Leader

Our four-legged heroes and their handlers have had a very busy and successful start to the year!

As an supporter of our K9 unit, you are responsible for helping keep these dogs healthy, trained, and ready for action.

Here is what your support has achieved over the last three months:

The biggest highlight of the quarter took place in March. Our K9 teams underwent a rigorous week-long Assessment and Certification by the Kenya Police Canine Unit. The dogs were tested on everything from agility and obedience to tracking and scent detection. We are thrilled to report that the team met all operational standards and is officially certified for active duty! This ensures our unit remains at the highest professional level.

Our K9 unit isn't just active within the conservancy; they are a vital resource for our neighbours, too.

  • Between January and March, the team responded to security interventions both internally and within the local community.
  • Whether it’s tracking or search-and-rescue, these dogs are proving to be an invaluable deterrent to crime in the region.

Health and Daily Life

  • Health: We are happy to report that all the dogs have remained in excellent health throughout the quarter.
  • Routine: When they aren't on active calls, the dogs are kept sharp with tracking exercises and high standards of kennel hygiene (with a deep-clean every Sunday!).

Your support ensures these dogs have the care and training they need to protect this landscape every single day.
