Education Through Sterilization

The Spay Shuttle reaches villages
The Spay Shuttle reaches villages

Greetings Friends,

We are making great strides each and every day in the communities near Center of Hope Bucharest area.  We have a collaboration with Ilfov County whereby vans of dogs and cats come to our hospital for spays and neuters each Tuesday.  The county supplies the volunteers, one of their vans (the other is our Spay Shuttle), petrol and coordination with locals in the villages.  A meeting point is arranged in a village for animal pick up at a specific time, and the locals bring their animals (either owned or community dogs or cats) for drop off.  Vans pick the animals up in crates and bring them to the Center of Hope where they are vet checked, spayed or neutered, deparasited and remain until they are awake.  Then they are returned later in the evening to their guardians or rescuers.

This program has become so well received that we are now providing an additional 1000 spay/neuter vouchers, with information about why it is vital to spay/neuter to stop abandonment and keep animals off the streets and forests.  Once these animals are sterilized the community treats them better, knowing they will not roam to mate or have endless litters of offspring.

We once again reach out to you, our incredible donors, to help us sustain this program.  To date Romania Animal Rescue and our sister charity Animal Spay and Neuter International UK have spayed and neutered over 115,000 dogs and cats.  We now have the new Spay/Neuter Extension at Center of Hope so that we are able to do even more work.

Please consider a $25 donation for a spay or neuter and change the fate of a deserving dog or cat.   Thank you friends.  Education through this collaboration with Ilfov County is the first of its kind in Romania.  We are only able to do this as funds allow.

Thank you for reading this report, and I wish you a lovely Spring!
