Over the holidays, whilst everyone had some time for some R & R, the ARRC team was busier than ever with some very interesting and successful cases!
Not only did we see 150 dogs at our monthly outreach in January, but we also saw a few cases that got our vets minds working.
The first case was little Francolin. This sweet pup was found in the bush by some children dragging her feet behind her, unable to walk. When we first heard of Francolin we thought the worst and didn't have very high hopes. But upon presentation Francolin had feeling in her legs! With a severe case of parasites and suspected botulism, our veterinarians managed to pull Francolin through. She recieved daily rehab sessions and physio and slowly but surely Francolin began to walk! She is still a little wonky but is doing better than we ever imagined. She now has a home with a loving family and we could not be happier!
The second case was Flash. When our team were called to Flash she was on her side and barely responsive. At first glance, we thought she was dead. But then we saw her take a breath. We hospitialised Flash and she was in our ICU for a week before she began to eat with assistance and then on her own. Flash had a severe infection in her uterus after giving birth and this infection had spread through her entire body, sending her into shock. Once we stabilised Flash, she was sterilsied and sent home to very grateful owners!
Our last two cases were 2 puppies with broken legs, which healed with casts and are now happy and healthy in their homes.
These are just a few highlights of the work your donations have made possible, without your support we would not be able to do this, so thank you!
Have a great rest of your week!
