Through the Angaza program, we continue to provide multi year scholarships to women and girls from underserved backgrounds. The Angaza program which means to ‘Light Up’ intervenes at significant and potentially catalytic transition periods for girls and young women - primary to secondary school, secondary to tertiary education, professional career, and young adulthood- facilitating their access to quality education.
We advance access to girls' education through our Angaza program, which currently has reach in four counties in Kenya: Kilifi, Kwale, Turkana, and Samburu. These counties were selected as project focus areas because they record some of the lowest education indicators in the country and are amongst the most impoverished regions in Kenya.
Our annual scholarship recruitment exercise kicked off and is ongoing. Through your generous support, we will be supporting 15 girls through their 4 year secondary education journey. This will be an investment of $45,283 to not only cover their education expenses but also support their career guidance and, development of soft skills that greatly contributes to the constituent’s choice of subjects and career pathway. This involves career shadowing and mentorship.
We sincerely appreciate the continued support that enables us to keep more girls in school.
In solidarity with girls,
Akili Dada
