Women for Conservation is excited to launch our biological research and conservation station in the Colombian Amazon! The Research Station construction is already underway in the ProAves El Jaguar Natural Reserve, a site of extraordinary biodiversity in Colombia's Orinoco River basin. This project will prevent wildlife poaching by allowing increased monitoring and research data collection, while also empowering Colombian women scientists through scholarships and research training programs.
The El Jaguar Nature Reserve, a site of extraordinary biodiversity, faces significant threats from wildlife poaching and habitat degradation. Local communities lack the resources and infrastructure to effectively monitor and protect this critical ecosystem.
Women for Conservation aims to address this challenge by establishing the Amazon Rainforest Field Station for Women Scientists. This station will serve as a hub for biodiversity research, allowing for increased monitoring, data collection, and conservation efforts. Additionally, it will empower Colombian women scientists through scholarships and research training programs.
This Amazon Rainforest Field Station will lead to a significant reduction in wildlife poaching and habitat degradation within the El Jaguar Nature Reserve. By providing essential resources and training to women scientists, we are fostering a new generation of environmental leaders who will play a pivotal role in the long-term protection of Colombia's invaluable biodiversity. This project sets the stage for sustainable conservation efforts and strengthens bonds between local communities & nature.
