Talented young people in Rwanda are eager to pursue higher education, but financial barriers often stand between them and their future. Tuition costs, housing, meals, and academic materials make college unattainable for many students, especially those from low-income or rural communities. This initial project will enable 6 young Rwandan college students to pursue higher education and give back to their communities, improving their chances of success in life.
Many capable students in Rwanda gain admission to college, but they cannot afford tuition, housing, meals, and other academic costs. Because of financial barriers, students from low-income and rural families often have to delay or abandon higher education. Without access to college, young people face limited job opportunities, and communities lose future leaders and professionals.
The Amahirwe Scholarship Fund will remove financial barriers by covering tuition, housing, meals, and academic costs for Rwandan college students. By providing comprehensive support rather than partial aid, students can remain enrolled, focus on their studies, and complete their education, gaining the skills needed to build stable livelihoods and serve their communities.
Students supported through the Amahirwe Scholarship Fund will complete their college education, increase their earning potential, and gain skills needed for meaningful employment or further study. Graduates strengthen families, contribute to Rwanda's workforce, and serve as leaders and mentors in their communities, creating a lasting economic and social impact beyond the individual student.
