Ama Ghar is a home for orphaned and abandoned children about 16 kilometers outside Kathmandu. Because our home is well built and we live in the country, our children are temporarily safe and have enough food for 4 weeks, or until mid-May. Who knows what will happen after that? Our local schools are rubble and our neighbors are in need. We are the anchor of our small village and will use the funding for relief efforts for our children and surrounding village. Thank you for your generosity.
The 7.8 earthquake that struck Kathmandu on Saturday, April 25 has affected Ama Ghar, our home for orphaned and abandoned children 16 kilometers outside the city, as well as our surrounding village. Our local school has been destroyed and we will need to dedicate a sizeable amount of our funds normally used to run our home for assisting our neighbors in re building their homes and providing food, as food will be scarce and very expensive.
These funds will provide a separate account that we can use for food, medicine and shelter
Long term impact is that our home and our neighbors will be fed and sheltered until they can re-build their homes.
