During the first months of this 2016, our Day Care Center of Alzheimer Mexico I.A.P., has carried out a lot of activities we are very proud of to share with you.
First of all, as we already reported on December, we did a public event where we delivered the certificates to 120 trainers from the Mexico City government, trained by Alzheimer Mexico IAP. Those trainers are overseeing 400 elder people each.
We had our first public event of Alzheimer Learn and Act on January 31st on the Alvaro Obregon Delegation. As always a lot of elder people joined us, eager to learn more about Alzheimer’s and dementia. You can see some of the sports’ activities on the picture below.
On January 6th we celebrate in Mexico the Day of Epiphany (Día de Reyes) which is very much expected by the children as they get their gifts, but also in all families there is the traditional rosca to share with all family members as we did in our Day Care Center.
Daily we are improving the quality of life of people with Alzheimer's disease or other kind of dementia and of their families, by our continuous stimulation program, which includes different therapies and activities.
One milestone for our patients is the celebration of almost every occasion: birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Easter, spring, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Day of the Dead, Christmas and so on.
This year the Valentine´s Day celebration was full of surprises; one was the participation of a professional dancing group which shared their knowledge and joy with all of us, of course dancing!
Another celebration did take place when the nursery post grade students finished their time with us; they planned a very special activity aimed at the stimulation of perception and feelings. This day all activities stood below the slogan: One day on a farm! Our patients enjoyed so much the contact with baby chicken that you can see it on the picture.
Once a week, the most functional patients’ group has outdoor activities. They enjoy so much to walk to the nearby park, church, or market place. This time they experienced the smell from all the fresh products in the market hall, including the hot chili peppers whose smell transported more over the women to the time when they prepared the meals, and the most famous Mexican dish, called mole, which is prepared with different kinds of chili, chocolate and other ingredients. Our grandmas even shared their own receipt with the people in the market!
Please take into consideration our weekly radio program on internet which is called Alzheimer Aprende y Actúa. You can tune us every Tuesday from 13 to 14 hours (Mexico City time) on www.radioapyt.com
Please join us! We deeply appreciate your solidarity, commitment and generosity.
