December 2015 Report Alzheimer Mexico GlobalGiving
As 2015 has come to end, we’d like to share with you some of the year’s highlights, and also some of the achievements. But first of all we want to acknowledge all the generous support from our donors, volunteers, staff and board members, which makes the difference in the life of our patients. Thank you very much! Gracias, muchas gracias!
In the Day Care Center of Alzheimer Mexico I.A.P., where we improve the quality of life of people with Alzheimer's disease or similar dementias and their families, we took care this year of 55 patients and more than 250 family members.
Marion, the daughter of María José, one of our patients, shared with us her impressions about our work and our Center:
“...I want to let you know that I love you very much and that all of you became part of my family. Currently the Day Care Center has had many very positive changes concerning the organization, the promotion, the opportunities, and the constant staff updates. It has become even more professionalized in their processes by continuous improvement which is reflected in the organization and in the order of all activities; all those improvements are to the benefit, first of all of the patients, of the staff and of us, the families.
We participate in events and exchanges with institutions, schools, the Government of Mexico City and its delegations, on national and international level, situation which makes me proud to belong to this community, with all the willingness to cooperate and participate in any activity that allow to promote, investigate and share about this disease, which makes possible that this great institution of Alzheimer Mexico can grow and develop itself, so that more families with this problem can have at their disposal a wonderful place like this, and that they can learn how to live with this disease without much suffering, distress, fear and despair as I experienced before I had the blessing of having this new family that has welcomed me and given me all the support and understanding that I have now.”
Another highlight was- without any doubt- the public events of Alzheimer Learn and Act that we carried out in the delegations and main spaces of Mexico City. As we already told you previously, these huge public events show the demand and need of information the general public has about dementia, forms of treatment and prevention, tips and support for the caregivers and family members.
Impact of the Events:
The last highlight we want to share with you was the training of trainers (ToT) we did this year.
Our weekly radio program on internet is Alzheimer Aprende y Actúa, and we invite you to follow us each Tuesday from 13 to 14 hours (Mexico City time) on www.radioapyt.com
We wish you a very successful 2016 and invite you on the following pictures to learn about some of the patients’ and family members’ activities during 2015. Please join us! We deeply appreciate your commitment and generosity.
