Working with Love

By Ana Claudia Marossi Justiniano / Axel Santos Perez | Fundrasing Coordinator

Celebrating Valentine
Celebrating Valentine

We want this 2020 to be a year full of great experiences, love and growth as an institution. Our expectation is to keep providing the necessary support to elderly people with dementia and their families. Therefore, we work hard and carry out many activities, which we would like to share with you:

In January, the Universum Museum welcomed us with open doors. We saw their expositions on health, pollination and human evolution. We were joined by our team of volunteers: Claudia, Julieta, Verónica and, the vice president of our board, Laura. Also, on the 6th, following Mexican traditions, we shared a Rosca de Reyes with our beneficiaries and their families. We are very grateful with everyone that shared this moments with us.

In February, the month of love and friendship, we received the Aztlán Mexican Folk Dance Group, which brought us much joy and entertainment. Furthermore, with the aim of continuously improving our facilities, we received a visit from our friends Ingenia Mx, they helped us with an architectural project in order to better the comprehensive care we provide our beneficiaries. They also participated with us in occupational therapy activities and on an informative talk on dementia, provided by our resident Social Worker, Luisa.

Among the occupational therapy activities that we carried out, we cooked desserts and had and embroidery workshop. Finally, keeping with more traditions, we were able to savor Oaxacan tamales made by the beneficiaries and paired it with a delicious chocolate champurrado made by our colleagues Abril and Esther. It was all delicious!

Knowing about dementias

Among our goals, we are committed on informing and training the family members of our beneficiaries to help them in taking care of them, which is why we carry out a psycho-pedagogical help group every month, touching on different topics of care and self-care.

In January, we had the participation of our Neuropsychologist, Dulce, who spoke about the "Patient, caregiver and family panorama".

In February, Merz Pharma, S.A. de C.V. joined this project, with the participation of Dr. Walfred, he talked about "Myths and Realities about dementias". Also, we are very grateful that he brought a delicious snack and coffee for the attendees. Thank you very much for your kindness and sharing your knowledge!

Alzheimer and the media

During this period, we were featured in the health section of Telediario Mx. They came to our facilities to interview the beneficiaries and staff. We are very grateful to our beneficiaries Roberto and Isabel for sharing their life story and to Kena´s team, through their report, they invite everyone not to forget about the elderly who suffer from dementia.

Please remember us!

To get to know us better and what we do, we invite you to follow us on Facebook. Also, we would like to take this opportunity to tell you that:

We are close to the Little by Little Campaign! This will be a BIG week for all the LITTLE donors. GlobalGiving have designed the campaign to show that, if we want to go far, we must go together. GlobalGiving will match online donations up to $ 50 at 50% the week of March 23 - 27. Invite your friends to donate in support of older adults!

Thank you for being wonderful supporters. Take care!
