Hello, dear friends! It is a great pleasure to share with you our new activity report for August, September and October. This was a period full of activities with very important events, which we are delighted to share with you.
Let's start with August, when we celebrate Grandpa's Day on the 28th. In addition to being a very important date for us to celebrate the elderly, we had the great news of having won a donation from Fundación CIE. We had a big celebration party organized by the Junta de Asistencia Privada (JAP) with many other organizations. Thank you all for your trust!
As part of our cognitive stimulation activities, we visited the Papalote Museum on August 30, a museum focused on learning, communication and working together through interactive exhibitions of science, technology and art. We had a great time!
In September, we celebrate World Alzheimer's Month, participating in interviews in different media and supporting awareness of the disease. On the 21st, World Alzheimer's Day, we held our annual Alzheimer Learn and Act event, in partnership with the government of Mexico City, through the Instituto para el Envejecimiento Digno (Institute for Dignified Aging).
This year the famous Post-it® brand of 3M Company participated in the event with a pleasant activity of writing a thought with which you would like to be remembered, thanks to the alliance built through Fondo Unido Mexico. Also many of 3M's collaborators were volunteers who supported the other stands. Merz Pharma also joined the event with the campaign “Lazos para Recordar” (Ties to Remember), promoting Akatinol, indicated for people with Alzheimer's disease, and exercises for cognitive stimulation.
In the other stands the attendees could participate in exercises of physical and mental activation, and the caregivers received guidance on many topics of care: practical advice in the home, for nutrition, information on abuse and forms of abuse prevention, advice on public institutions of social assistance, talks on legal aspects, all in 15 different information spaces. In addition, of course, we do our traditional formation of the human brain, to continue giving visibility to the cause at large.
In September, we also celebrated Mexico. We had the presence of mariachis and the group Ballet Folklórico Huitzitzilin, coordinated by professor Gisela Rivera Márquez, who donated her time and talent for this party. We ate the famous pozole, sang and danced a lot. Long live Mexico!
As part of our day center activities, once a month we conduct family support groups to provide guidance on dementias and self-care. On this occasion, we would especially like to thank Ms. Erika Mendoza for the interesting talk on "General Legal Foundations for Decision Making" on Monday, September 9.
Continuing the educational activities, on September 23rd we started new training groups for educators who work with older adults and are part of important government programs. We are especially grateful to Fundación Gentera, A.C. for funding this project.
Finally, in October, we will celebrate our 15th anniversary of the foundation. Throughout this time, Alzheimer Mexico has benefited more than 600 families in direct support and thousands of people with its events, training and counseling. We want to recognize the important work of its founders, including Mrs. Lilia Maria Groues del Mazo, and all of our donors, volunteers, allies, beneficiaries, collaborators, all of whom are a fundamental part of this story.
We would like to inform that in addition to the events and courses, we continue with our integral attention through the 6 programs: Social Work, Nursing, Management, Psychology, Physical Therapy and Nutrition. We invite more families who know our model of care and come closer, for guidance and support.
We want to invite you to continue supporting the treatment of dementia with your important donation and invite your family and friends to support Alzheimer Mexico I.A.P. as well. In this way, we can continue to be a life hope for families. Thank you very much!
