Thank you for your support for PIN's desire to combat cybercrime in Nigeria.
We appreciate the donation received and wish to update everyone on the progress of the project.
Unfortunately, the expected cybercrime bill was not passed in the legislative year going to an end, hence the need to resume work when a new legislative year opens in June 2011. We had hoped that the bill would be passed, and that this training project will serve as a model we can propose to the agency that the bill will create. As this is not the case, some of our partners have expressed concerns that an unclear cybercrime regime within law may affect the way trainees of the project will be perceived.
We'll return to our lobbying mode from June 2011, and will now focus more on getting the agency (to be created by the bill) to adopt this model for their work. We will work with them, offer our expertise and inform all stakeholders of possible progress. To this end, we will be closing this project in order to begin the campaign for our new project, TENT Workshop Series. Please see http://www.pinigeria.org/projects.php#tent for more information.
