ALPHA EDTECH JUNIOR - THIRD REPORT

By Israel Neto | Project Manager

Project Recap

The Alpha Lumen Institute created the Alpha Edtech Junior project to provide IT education to vulnerable youth, promoting social and economic inclusion in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. The project aims to prepare young people for the job market, addressing social inequalities and offering equal opportunities. With a focus on developing technical and socio-emotional skills, Alpha Edtech Jr seeks to train future leaders ready to face upcoming challenges.

In recent months, students have engaged in programming activities and also participated in the Science Days event.

Theoretical Content CoveredComputational Thinking

  • Decomposition: breaking down a large problem into smaller parts;

  • Pattern Recognition: identifying similarities in different problems;

  • Abstraction: focusing on the essential while ignoring irrelevant details;

  • Algorithms: creating step-by-step sequences to solve problems.

Block-Based Programming

  • Use of tools such as Scratch and Blockly;

  • Creating animations and interactive stories;

  • Introduction to events, loops, variables, and conditions.

Text-Based Programming

  • Introduction to languages like Python and JavaScript;

  • Integrating sensors to collect environmental data.

Participation in Science Days

The Alpha Edtech Junior students participated in Science Days, an educational event organized by the Alpha Lumen Institute. Inspired by the Space Symposium and NASA, the event aims to bring students closer to the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The event features various interactive activities, including:
Workshops and Hands-on Sessions – focused on innovation, robotics, programming, and astronomy;
Lectures – with scientists, engineers, and specialists from various technology fields;
Challenges and Competitions – including hackathons and robotics tournaments;
Exhibitions and Tech Showcases – featuring projects from students and companies in the sector.

Objective of Science Days

The main goal is to stimulate interest in science and technology among young people, providing an immersive environment for hands-on learning and knowledge exchange. Additionally, the event encourages career exploration in space and technology fields.
