ALPHA EDTECH JUNIOR - FIRST REPORT

By Israel Neto | Project Manager

Remembering the project:

The Alpha Lumen Institute created the Alpha Edtech Junior project to offer IT education to vulnerable young people, promoting social and economic inclusion in line with the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda. The project aims to prepare young people for the job market, tackling social inequalities and offering equitable opportunities. Focusing on training technical and socio-emotional skills, Alpha Edtech Jr seeks to train leaders prepared for the challenges of the future.

In recent months, students have developed the following activities:

Activity 1

Title: Creating and sharing team and project

Introduction:

During this module, a widely used tool for prototyping projects and organizing ideas was presented: ‘Figma’.

In these meetings, two elements present on a web page were discussed: the “header” and the “navbar”.

Goal:

In these classes, the groups created a team and shared a project in Figma, as well as starting the development of the “header” and “navbar” of their web page via Figma, starting the medium fidelity prototyping process.

Results achieved:

The participating students created the project and shared it with all group members so they could work together.

Anyone with the link was allowed to see the group's project, but only group members were able to edit it.

After-class activities:

Deliver the project link via the platform, which will include the “header” and “navbar” developed by the group.

Activity 2

Title: Creating and sharing team and project - continued

Introduction:

During this module, a widely used tool for prototyping projects and organizing ideas was presented: ‘Figma’.

At these meetings, Figma tools for creating reusable components (such as buttons, input fields, lists, tables, etc.) and the creation of multiple screens were discussed.

Goal:

In these classes, the groups continued the project shared by Figma, and created a component to reuse on more than one screen of their application.

Results achieved:

Students created reusable components for the group project.

Students created more than one screen for the project, and at least one component was used on more than one screen.

The students also participated in the Tech Challenges project, an event that brings together various STEM activities, where young people were able to absorb knowledge in the area of programming, follow the last stage of the Brazilian robotics olympiad and interact with professionals in the technology field.
