Summary

This project will provide nutrition food, provide food and medicines/ medical supplies, NFI and fishing kits for children, women and elderly displaced by the flood in Akobo, Lanken, Walgak and Pibor With the support from the donor. Over 4000 and 5000 women and men will be trained on minor sanitation and hygiene management in emergency crisis . About 100 big tents will be purchased to support accommodation of children and lactating mothers displaced by the flooding in Akobo and Pibor

Challenge

over 25,000 women, children and elderly have been displaced by the flood in Akobo and Pibor. 25% of this are children, 23% lactating mothers and the rest are elderly and young aged. over 1000 households have been destroyed and IDPs are seeking refuge at some of the few highlands. Food, shelters, infrastructures and other vital amenities have been destroyed. children drink from the flood contaminated water. Children and women are at risk of starvation, dysentery, malaria and other diseases.

Solution

With this support, CRADA will provide nutrition, medicine and health care services to the children, elderly and their mothers. CRADA will also support and teach mothers and care givers on how to care for their children in emergency. Emergency shelters and non-food items shall be provided to support accommodation and other basic services to the people displaced, fishing kits and training in fish preservation and smoking. Women and young girls will be provided with hygiene kits & awareness given

Long-Term Impact

5000 women and girls will be provided with lifesaving skills in emergency from the two counties. At least 6,000 men and young boys will be trained on fishing, fish preservation and smoking At least 2000 men and 5000 women will be trained on basic sanitation in emergency and how to care for the elderly and infant in emergency situation. 400 Mothers and 700 men will be trained on basic health services support in emergency context to provide their families' health and well-being
