The purpose is to reduce HIV infections and improve the acceptance of infected people, decreasing stigma. We intend to: 1. build an artistic exhibition with educational content, collecting expectations of the youth and transmit the experience of infected adolescents, promoting adoption of healthy lifestyles; 2. lead a campaign with pedagogical elements on the importance of self-care; 3. carry out educational actions to strengthen the ability of youngs to make responsible / autonomous decisions
The HIVAIDS worldwide epidemic is stabilized with a tendency to decrease. In Colombia is still on the rise. Medellin, Antioquia, recorded an increase of 26% during 2014. Only in Medellin there are 700-800 new cases per year. > 70% of the cases are men, and > 50% are heterosexuals. Our epidemic is concentrated in risk groups that unfortunately involve teenagers. Previous work with the adolescent community has shown a significant lack of knowledge in transmission pathways and preventive measures.
The project seeks to implement educational actions for HIV prevention, developing activities on health promotion through education, art and telecommunications. Previous experience helped to define optimal tools to educate youngs on sexuality that will be applied in this project. We hope to strengthen the processes of formation for empowerment and responsibility in adolescents and young adults, based on our belief that knowledge and training are the basis of all individual and collective changes
The SiFuturo Foundation aims to contribute to the reduction of HIV incidence in particular in young people, taking education as the best protection strategy to reduce risk and vulnerability; this proposal seeks to promote attitudinal and behavioral changes for promoting prevention of HIV, along with increasing acceptance of infected individuals improving their quality of life. With the travelling art exhibition we can expand the program, augmenting the beneficiaries and the impact of the program
