GIVING AN OPPORTUNITY TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND GENDER
This project is about educating people of all ages, gender groups and background to fight HIV-Aids – promote peace and development in their community, society and nation, for their bright future.
While we are waiting for this project to be fully funded, during these last 3 months, we organized Art peace workshop for children aged between 7-10 years old, for 6 days. The children were given an opportunity to share with other children about peace, development and environment through art. The workshop was attended by 93 children from 13 different communes of Bujumbura Capital City of Burundi, representing other children of Bujumbura City who were not privileged to attend the above mentioned workshop.
The objective was to give these little children an opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings about peace, reconciliation, development and environment through art peace workshop (drawing and painting) - It was to help the children at their age to be able to understand and participate in peace building in a wounded community by war . It was also to teach them about compassion in action, which is about caring for one another, mainly for those in great need.
After an evaluation with the children, we realized that they all enjoyed themselves and that they had learnt and understood more about promoting peace, reconciliation, development and protecting environment . The feedback from their parents was positive, as many parent of those whom their children attended the art peace workshop, said that every morning for the whole week, they didn’t need to wake their children up as the children were always awake and anxiously waiting to go to the workshop. This shows how much the children were interested and committed to come to the art peace workshop. When children came back from the workshop, they shared with their parents about what they learnt from the workshop.
This Project intends to tackle the problems related to HIV-Aids, Peace and development by educating people from all ages, gender and background. They will learn new way of living, behaving, acting towards AIDS in order to live longer and how to prevent Aids in Burundian community and live peacefully toward peace and development. The propagation of Aids and those killed by it will be reduced in Burundian Community and nation.
