After the success of IsraAID’s program in the district of Ormoc - IsraAID Philippines is thrilled to announce that we are expanding our education and psychosocial program to another city – Maasin. The first stage of the program is an eight days training for chosen individuals such as school principals, teachers and nurses from Maasin Department of Education. This group will act as the city’s core-team, being the source of knowledge and inspiration for future program facilitators.
A teacher participating in the training for Maasin core-team shared the following:
”After the 8 day training I feel triumphant. Participating in each activity was very rewarding and interactive; I learn a lot, not only from the facilitators but from my co – participants as well, who did not spare on sharing their feelings and personal experiences. The training made me realize who we really are and after each sharing session I felt relieved from all life struggles. The facilitators were all excellent and experienced and were so passionate in their work. I personally gained an enormous amount of knowledge especially about myself from this training. After 2 weeks of MHPSS training, I'm now ready to embrace the reality of life either positive or negative and confront them confidently. My soul is healed and once the soul is healed the mind and the body follow.”
IsraAID Philippines is happy to see the expansion of our program take place and wish our new team in Maasin the best of luck in their work to create strong support for the children, teachers and social workers in their municipality.
On another part of island, the farmers in IsraAID's Agriculture program are busy with continued trainings and workshops, bell-pepper harvesting and new trade opportunities.
Since the beginning of 2017 the farmers are growing beautiful green, red and yellow bell pepper crops in the field. The bell-peppers are then delivered to significant traders in Tacloban and Cebu. The products are greatly appreciated by the traders for their high quality - comparing to other suppliers – and therefore the farmers are managing to sell them for a more profitable price.
We are also happy to share with you that IsraAID’s international Program Manager handed over the role to our local Program Coordinator and agronomist, who is now in charge of the continuation of the trainings and monitoring of the farmers’ work.
IsraAID Philippines is celebrating the success of our programs – a success that would not have been possible without the support from donors such as yourself! We send you all the warmest thank you and hope you continue your support.
