One of the Foundation's key work strategies is to promote sustainable livelihoods and landscapes in the context of climate change, in this line GlobalGiving allow us to achieve our goals. Your support has been essential in:
2.1 To develop replicable alternatives for the sustainable use of natural, endangered and recovered, ecosystems
In October, occurred a practical workshop on post-harvest of agroecological products with the colleagues of the Mushuk Tukuy Network (MTN) and in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Pichincha. The objective of this workshop was to improve the quality of the agroecological baskets for the consumers. During the workshop, the colleagues received technical recommendations on post-harvest handling of products such as onions, carrots, chard, aromatic herbs, zucchini, and tomato among the main ones.
In continuity with the changes initiated last year, the San Isidro Agroecological Farm, has accelerated multiple productive initiatives, since October. The first was to check and acquire multiple assets needed for productive work: tools and materials; mobile fences to secure the food and safety of our alpacas; the cleaning and maintenance of the greenhouse and water reserve. Second, we updated the labor status of our personal at the farm, including the possible new productive initiatives. With all of it, we were in a better condition to face our second line of advance.
2.2 To establish marketing alternatives for sustainable products and services
As part of the Cambugan Foundation initiatives to achieve sustainability trough agroecology, we promoted and signed an agreement to supply fresh parsley, maggie herb and basil to an intermediate food company of Quito (CONDIMENSA), with the support of national consultants (CORFOSE) and the Municipality of the city. This is a challenge towards more stable markets and scale.
Because of this effort, we are articulating a value chain where we hope that strategic partners understand the dynamics of social work and support us to achieve the expected economic benefits. Agroecological production continues and for this reason, technical training has been received for the management of parsley, basil, and coriander, through technical support and field visits to more experienced producers.
In synthesis, your support help us continuously to draw and build new challenges to grow and dream.
