Help South Africa's rural subsistence woman farmers create a conducive environment designed to give purpose and meaning to their lives by helping us construct a greenhouse vegetable nursery to enable rural subsistence farmers generate income for themselves and their families.
The subsistence farmers in rural community of Boschfontein and Magogeni, Nkomazi, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa need fencing in order to farm near the Mbambiso dam. The rural community resorted to farm on dry land with the only hope to benefit from rain-water. This predicament affects the entire village and adds to the poverty cycle. we seek to expand livelihood opportunities for subsistence woman farmers in the village by creating a conducive environment for farming and job creation.
This project will offer organic farming training techniques to rural subsistence woman farmers in Nkomazi village, South Africa. We will provide vegetable seedlings to subsistence farmers and embark on a joint farming operation, offering assistance for seedlings transplant, ensure the quality of their produce and link subsistence farmers to fresh produce markets for the sale of vegetables. Thus creating sustainable entrepreneurs, employment, and food security in the region.
According to Statistics South Africa, Nkomazi Municipality's population was last measured at approximately 395 000, and its unemployment rate at approximately 42.3%. With the help of Global Giving Foundation and donors, we will create at most 800 jobs in the agricultural sector. Our long term goal for this project is to improve the quality of education in math and science for primary and high school pupils and influence an increase in the participation of post secondary education in the region
