Children living in poverty have only the rote learning of school and little stimulation or adult support within their home or institution. The School+Plus program is a proven approach to developing and empowering kids in Nepal. During the Covid-19 Pandemic we're providing home schooling for 20+ Children in the IGWR Houses, and supporting a number of children and their families with essential supplies as many familes now have no income.
When the school day is over, children in poor communities are left with nothing to do, often their parents are working, there is no one to connect with, and they are left to fend for themselves on the local streets. Our School+Program provides a stimulating environment that offers children the opportunity to explore their full potential. During the Covid-19 pandemic we are providing Home schooling and essential supplies to families wit no income and to 20+ students in IGWR houses.
Over the two years we have been running the program we have seen wonderful changes in the local kids, and by using local tutors and Nepal appropriate content we have enhanced their schooling and given the kids a boost in confidence that helps them realise their fuller potential. The impact of the program is also directly reflected in their school results and equally important has enhanced their overall health and confidence.
Children in the program are be better equipped for achieving at school and that gives them a head-start toward their future opportunities. We received 12 month funding through the GG Acceleraotor program and so have extended our campaign to seek 24 months funding. Once secured we will start a second program in another location to serve another community.
