N's new walker
N's new walker

Thanks to the support of our extremely generous donors we have been able to fund 27 items of specialist and life-changing mobility equipment for disabled children and young people around the UK this year.

Meet N - he is 12 and has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which means that his Cerebellum is underdeveloped and every aspect of his movement, balance and co-ordination is impacted. At almost 13, he mobilises using a walker as he cannot walk independently. He has significant communication difficulties, moderate learning difficulties and struggles with fine motor tasks due to his hand tremor. He needs support with personal care and receives one to one support at school.

Football is N's passion. He plays for Leeds United Junior pan disability team but his NHS walker isn’t suitable for sports so his physiotherapist recommended a specialised walker that would enable him to manoeuvre more easily and develop his skills.

We were delighted to provide this for him.

When it was delivered his mum sent this lovely photo and told us:

"I'm delighted to say that N's walker arrived this afternoon. He was beaming when he saw it, I can't begin to tell you all how much difference it will make to him. He now has 2 walkers at school, one for outdoors, and one for indoors. His teaching assistant won't need to lift it up and down stairs with him every time.so will make their life easier too. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the amazing kindness you have showered on our family."
