Meet Frankie. She is 11 and was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 3 at 18 months of age. It is a progressive condition which causes muscle weakness in the legs, arms and trunk. Frankie’s mobility has unfortunately deteriorated over time and she now uses a wheelchair for most of the day.
Thanks to our very generous donors we were able to fund this lightweight chair and power add-on. Her family told us:
"She absolutely loves it. It really impacted her in a positive way. It is easy to transport and for her to get around. The power attachment gives her great independence but also with various speeds, provides flexibility and fun. The help and support available through the charity is vital for the families affected by disabilities and knowing that there are organizations to which you can turn for help is very comforting and reassuring. So from the bottom of our heart – thank you again for your help!"
