We are very proud to have changed the lives of many children and young people with disabilities and autism for the better and we would like to thank you for your generous support.

Mobility Equipment Service

Incredible news. Last year we provided the highest number of items of mobility equipment ever for disabled children and young people. We are experiencing an unprecedented number of applications and simply could not have helped so many families without support like yours.

Ella and Elsa’s New Trikes

Ella and Elsa are three-year-old twins. They both have cerebral palsy. This means that they have mobility difficulties and cannot get around as easily as other children their age, which they can find both frustrating and exhausting. This also impacts their ability to socialise with other children as they are unable to run around and keep up with their peers. The family missed being able to go out and take part in activities together, as Ella and Elsie cannot ride bikes or trikes like their older sister, Eva. Their Mum applied to AFK for two specialist trikes, so that they could join in bike rides with their sister and friends, as well as providing essential support for their legs and helping them to build up strength in their muscles. Elsa chose a Midnight Purple trike and Ella a Candy Pink trike, and they both waited very eagerly for them to arrive.

When the trikes were delivered their Mum got in touch and told us: “The girls were so excited to get on them and very happy when they arrived saying ‘mum look, look our trikes are here’. Thanks so much for your help and support from start to finish - you guys have been amazing!”

I hope that the twins story highlights the difference your gifts make.

Everyone at AFK sends a huge thank you their behalf.
