Affordable Housing for People with Disabilities
Quarterly Update This quarter, the Affordable Homeownership Foundation helped house 15 individuals with disabilities across Southwest Florida become housed and move out of homelessness.. Our HUD-certified counselors worked directly with each household to navigate the housing search, understand lease terms and tenant rights, and connect with accessible, affordable units suited to their needs including a disabled client who was struggling finding housing and was homeless for some time who moved from our waitlist into a fully accessible apartment near all shops and Dr's offices.
Finding affordable, accessible housing is one of the toughest challenges facing people with disabilities in our region accessible units are scarce, and the process of securing one is often confusing and slow to navigate alone. Our counselors work case by case to remove those barriers, from application support to landlord communication to move-in logistics. Housing 15 individuals this quarter represents real, tangible stability for real people many of whom had been searching for months before connecting with our team. This work is made possible by donors like you, and every gift helps us reach the next household on our list. Thank you for supporting this work. Your generosity is directly responsible for 15 people having a safe, accessible place to call home this quarter.
