Our changing Economy, rising rents, rising food prices, and just the increase in everyday living is causing disabled individuals on a fixed income to become homeless. We have seen an increase in our homeless population due to rent prices increasing from $650-$900 per month to $1,200 to $2,200 per month for a 1 bedroom apartment. The average person who is Disabled or Elderly makes between $850- $1,450 per month so based on the rising rent prices most of these individuals are now becoming homeless.
We are building the Single Room Occupancy Dwellings to house these individuals but we can't build them fast enough to slow the number of people who are losing their housing. These homes come with connection to services and case management which is important when individuals are homeless especially disabled clients for any period of time because they have PTSD from living on the street. In the meantime small donations mean a lot, we can help with food, utilities or sometimes hotel bills for individuals becoming homeless until we can house them any bit of humanity goes a long way. Please donate to this worthy cause your donations can change a life! This quarter we did not receive any donations towards this cause, a little goes a long way, won't you help to change a person's life?
