Burning Medical Bills to Protest Medical Debt

By Stephanie Aines | Director of Organizing

Gainesville members burning medical bills

The RCA has launched a series of actions this spring and summer protesting medical debt. We are sharing stories of medical bills that we cannot afford, and burning them. Our members in Gainesville held a barbecue outside at a local restaurant. Instead of serving food from the grill, they burned medical bills. Our crew in Boston held a protest and marched around many of the hospitals there. They finished this rally by throwing their medical bills into a trash can and burning them.

We are excited to continue these actions across the country as a way to share stories of and fight against the medical expenses and debt that patients across the country cannot afford.
