On a dark and cold January evening, a group of Right Care Alliance members got together in person and online to launch our first political education study group. These study groups are a way for us to explore the complexities of our nation's health care system and medical industrial complex, open our minds to what could be, and then imagine what the health care system we want looks and feels like. We discuss a different aspect of our vision statement with each gathering. Over the past few months we've formed a group that meets regularly in Boston, and one that meets monthly online via videochat.
We've been discussing how our healthcare system could be financed, the importance of primary care, and compared what single payer systems look like across the world.
Our study groups continue! The RCA chapter in Washington DC is about to launch their political education over the summer. And all supporters and members are welcome to join our next call coming up on Monday, June 10 from 7-8:30pm EST. Feel free to reach out to organize@rightcarealliance.org for more info and details.
We've also launched a membership drive to more clearly identify Right Care Alliance members. In order to be a member, we just ask that you fill out this membership form with optional dues. Members are the first ones to have access to our organizing and leadership trainings.
Even as we move forward, our rallies and actions continue. RCA members in Gainesville, FL held a vigil in May to honor those who died from insulin rationing. Activists in Washington, DC demonstrated outside of the PhRMA building to protest out-of-control prices for all drugs. And organizers in Boston led a rally outside of a meeting of government, hospital and medical leaders to highlight that medical innovation without affordable prices means that people can't benefit from new science.
Our movement will continue into the summer, thanks to your energy and support!
