The RCA spent the summer reflecting on the next phase of our organization. We talked about our network, our successes, and our struggles. We asked ourselves rough questions about why people have joined and left the Right Care Alliance over the years. These conversations culminated with a leadership retreat over Labor Day Weekend to make decisions about our next steps.
We decided to re-commit ourselves to local organizing around the high cost of health care to individuals. We want to focus on community outreach and building relationships in Gainesville, FL and Boston, MA. We want to welcome and make space for members and friends who live outside of those cities too.
Our first phase is to research how medical debt, copays and deductibles are impacting people in those cities. We'll do grassroots research, and speak with many people about their experiences. Then we'll form specific campaigns in those cities to ease medical debt. RCA supporters who are not in those cities will be collecting stories and experiences from across the country, research solutions and targets, and join in calling for change from local targets. Meanwhile, we are commited as ever to training and leadership development. We will have training and coaching for all RCA members on grassroots organizing and other leadership skills.
Thanks for all the support over the years and being a part of the RCA as we grow!
