Dear Friends and Supporters -
We at AEC have been working in Tanzania now for just over a year, and it's time to provide you with a few updates on our progress. To date, AEC's Tanzanian affiliate, Anza, has reached almost 50 entrepreneurs with our blend of business development support, mentorship, and capacity building classes. In the year that we've been working with social entreprenuers in Tanzania, they've created dozens of jobs in the Kilimanjaro region.
In 2017, we are poised to expand, by launching two new "micro-sites" -- one in nearby Arusha, and another in Dar es Salaam -- so that we can reach entrepreneurs across the country.
We've also teamed up with Digital Opportunity Trust and are accepting 10 young entrepreneurs from their Digital Livelihoods Project are joining the Anza Accelerator to take their visions to the next level.
With ideas to tackle everything from a fish farming school in Moshi to creating a more sustainable fashion industry in Dar es Salaam, we look forward to working with these impactful enterprises.
And notably, we've also just launched our loan fund in Tanzania, backed by Kiva. The "Anza Growth Fund" will bring AEC's model of low-cost lending to the entreprenurs who need capital to grow their small businesses.
None of this would have been possible without your support, and we thank you for coming with us along the journey!
