Dear Friends,
Meet Mr. Kim, an energetic and affable guy who comes from Mt. Meru in Arusha, Tanzania.
Mr. Kim was one of the first social entrepreneurs to join AEC’s Tanzania accelerator. He runs Safe Water Ceramics East Africa, producing a ceramic water filter that provides safe, clean drinking water.
Mr. Kim comes from a family of potters, and started out that way. After several years, he decided that he wanted to do something more with his craft, that he wanted to have more impact with his life.
He used his skills as a potter and began making ceramic water filters out of the clay found on Mt. Meru. Met with early success, Mr. Kim was able to make water filters with 99.99% effectiveness at 25% the cost of competitors. But, Mr. Kim realized that in order to see out his dreams of people across Tanzania having an affordable, safe way to access clean water, he would need help to grow his operations and truly commercialize his operations.
Through AEC’s support, Mr. Kim received just that. AEC’s team worked with Mr. Kim to map out a unique path to success for his business to follow. From one-on-one strategic consulting, training, technical support, linkage with relevant markets and partners, and access to affordable financing, we give Mr Kim what he needs to grow.
Since joining our program, Mr. Kim has sold 1178 water filters, benefiting the lives of people across Tanzania!
Thanks so much for your continued support of AEC in Tanzania.
Happy holidays,
Julienne
