The heartbreaking reality of babies in Cartagena

Early childhood is a fundamental stage of the integral development of the human being, the learning during this process leaves a mark on life. For this reason, it is important that our adolescent mothers have the tools and know the fundamentals and guidelines of positive parenting, strengthening the various pedagogical dimensions that facilitate the comprehensive development of children.

Through the maternal role and positive parenting module, our adolescent mothers are empowered and strengthen their affective ties with their children, which contributes significantly to their life projects and improves coexistence in healthy family environments.

During 2021 we achieved:

• 100% of adolescent mothers strengthened their affective ties with their children thanks to the training of the positive parenting module (237 meetings during the year)
• 100% have managed to stimulate their sons and daughters through positive parenting, showing limits, and being consistent with the example.
• 100% of our adolescent mothers are aware of the following topics, which has generated a strong affective bond with their children:

1. Concept of Integral and evolutionary development
2. Dimensions of Integral development
3. Successful breastfeeding
4. Importance of breastfeeding
5. Breastfeeding myths
6. Supplementary feeding
7. Grooming of the newborn
8. Nasal washes and medication supply
9. Cognitive, motor, communicative and sensory stimulation activities according to stages of development
10. Positive parenting
