By Mylene Lagman | Resource Mobilization Officer

Leadership Training and Participation among Street Children

For the reporting period a total of forty nine (49) Junior Health Workers (JHWs) from different areas covered by the Street Education Program continuously conduct activities/sessions on Primary Health Care/Personal Hygiene, STI-HIV AIDS and other health related topics among children in their respective area. They also refer sick children to public health centers and to Childhope Mobile Health Clinic Doctor and also assist during scheduled check-ups in the area.

In addition, these youth leaders also administer First Aid treatment in the area regularly and also whenever there are outreach activities and field trips.

The Junior Child’s Rights Advocates (JCRAs) diligently perform their tasks and responsibilities such as conducting sessions on Child Rights and related laws among other street children and assisting the street educators during alternative education sessions and outreach activities in their respective areas. One of them is also very active in their school as class President. He is also active in Youth Ministry in Ermita Parish Church and served during the Mass every Sunday.

Two (2) JCRA also attended the 2 days Children Talk to Children Training Workshop organized by Save the Children. The training aims to capacitate children and youth to be involved in the implementation and monitoring of the United Nations on the Convention of the Rights of the Child.

Educational Assistance Program (EAP) for Formal Education
