Project Progress Report

Project Title: Adopt a Special Child – Dollar a Day
Organization: National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan / Pakistan Down Syndrome Association (PDSA)
Reporting Period: [Insert Month/Quarter, Year]

1. Project Overview

The “Adopt a Special Child – Dollar a Day” initiative aims to provide essential rehabilitation, education, and care services to children with intellectual disabilities from underserved communities in Sindh, Pakistan. The project is grounded in the belief that “Disability is Not a Bad Word” and that every child deserves dignity, inclusion, and opportunity.

2. Key Achievements

  • Supported 500 children with intellectual disabilities through daily care and rehabilitation services
  • Provided physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and remedial education
  • Ensured free transportation (pick & drop) for children from remote areas
  • Conducted parent counseling sessions to improve home-based care and awareness
  • Distributed assistive devices and learning materials to children in need

3. Impact Stories

Case Highlight:
One of our beneficiary Shahmeer, a 7-year-old child with Down syndrome, showed significant improvement in communication and social interaction after consistent speech therapy and structured support. The child, who previously had limited verbal expression, is now able to communicate basic needs and interact with peers confidently.

This reflects our core message:
Children with intellectual disabilities need attention, care, and opportunity—not neglect.

4. Community Engagement & Awareness

  • Organized awareness sessions under the theme “Disability is Not a Bad Word”
  • Engaged local communities to reduce stigma and promote inclusion
  • Strengthened collaboration with local stakeholders, schools, and civil society

5. Challenges

  • Limited financial resources to meet increasing demand
  • Lack of awareness in rural areas leading to late identification of disabilities
  • Transportation challenges for children from distant communities

6. Financial Summary

  • Funds utilized for:
    • Rehabilitation services
    • Staff salaries
    • Transportation
    • Assistive devices and materials

7. Future Plans

  • Expand services to reach more children in rural districts
  • Strengthen early intervention programs
  • Increase community outreach and awareness campaigns
  • Build sustainable support systems for long-term impact

8. Gratitude to Donors

We sincerely thank our generous donors and supporters on GlobalGiving. Your contribution of just $1 a day is transforming lives, restoring hope, and building a more inclusive society.

Together, we are proving that:
Disability is not inability.
Every child deserves attention, care, and opportunity.
